Glad to here others are racing 1:24 Sprint Cars and Late Models. I’ve run on a track very similar to what you described. It is a fun track and can be flat out depending on the cars and voltage. A track that is flat will generally be tougher to drive, each have their pluses and minuses. What does the rest of your group want to do with the track? Don’t forget to consider what the group has to say. If your looking for more even competitive competition you might consider changing the voltage to the track or knocking down the voltage to the fast lanes, try to get all the lanes so a single car will do about the same time in each lane. Or you could Round Robin style races, that way everyone has to deal with the same track conditions through the course of a race. Hope this answers your question.

Well i had intentions of making at least two of the four USAC races in the Eastern Swing, but do to weather only got to see 1 of the the 2 planned.

The time schedule for the Tuesday race at Grandveiw was a little tight for my liking so that one got skipped.

The Williams Grove race got canceled early do to impeding bad weather, but I didn’t find that out until after the 85 mile (one way) drive to the track. Guess I should have picked up the phone and called before leaving.

Made the Big Diamond race and liked it. Although the racing got underway about 15 ot 20 min. latter than scheduled things appeared to be work out until there were some problems during Sprint time trials. A couple of spins and 1 car that didn’t register time possibly due to a bad transponder. Some great racing with passing both high and low.

The ARDC Midget main was filled with cautions including if I can recall correctly 3 red flags for flips. The racing ended after 12:00, a little on the late side if you have to go to work the next morning.

Biggest complaint would have to fall on track conditions. A rather LARGE hole developed at the start of turn one and ran the entire length of the turn and it got major dusty. but after it was all over I was still happy being this was the first race I had attended in several years. Boy did I miss the sound of a V8 and three abreast racing!!!!!! For those who attended, what about that move by Cole Whitt on the last lap in the back stretch????? AT first I thought their might be some bad feelings about to be vented afterward but Levi Jones played down the move during the post race interviews.

Missed the Hagerstown race do to intestinal bug, and sorry. After checking the news on the USAC site it appears Saturday’s night winner is the youngest to win on dirt in USAC’s Sprint division. If Cole Whitt was the youngest he didn’t enjoy the limelight of that achievement for long. Congratulation to both Cole Whitt and Chad Boat for putting a little something extra into the ‘08′ Eastern Swing.

Looking over their schedule it appears they make a stop at Big Diamond on Wednesday June 25 on the Great Northern Tour. It is a mid week show and the USAC show there got VERY dusty, but might be worth checking out.

From the USAC web site it looks like the New Generation Silver Crown cars are being garaged for the 2008 season pending “evaluation and re-design”. Gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling all over. It seems USAC is returning to the traditional pavement car run in the recent past.
The Copper Classic on dirt!?! Is it real? Could this be a return to USAC’s dirt roots? I for one hope so. I also hope they find a market for USAC racing here in Pennsylvania. It would make me happy seeing the Silver Crown cars run again on dirt without having to travel 500 miles to do so.

Ahhhh…….. the racing season has officially begun.

Came across a link to this as yet unrelased film. It looks quite interesting. The sound of those monster V8 engines is great and acualy seeing the CANAM cars driven in anger, I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy. It looks like it is due to be released in January 2008. Here’s a couple of links.

I just received an email from Ardennes Productions stating the release date is Febuary 2008.

IT’S ALIVE!!!!!! (think Gene Wilder in Young Frankenstein). Pit Road Raceway came to life Tuesday night as the taping of the lanes was finished up and the large blade switch was engaged sending 12volts of raw, pulsating power coursing through it’s veins. All the regulars showed up to help move this project forward. I thank everyone for their help to complete the track in time for the SCORE season opener and Chuck and Joanne for hosting the track and also a thank you to Dana for rescuing the track the dumpster. It’s been a bit of a long haul so far but the finish line is just up ahead. I hope a Bug Day can be scheduled before the race season opener to season the new surface a bit and get our cars and fingers in shape for the upcoming season.

BRING CARS!!!!!!……..Ha-Ha fooled ya. Mike and Kate stopped by and helped for awhile, thank you. We stripped the bad paint, sanded the surface and cleaned it in prep for the new paint. The new paint went on quick and showed signs of drying in the first 15 - 20 minutes. One coat would probably have done it but my lousy painting skill will need to be fixed and a second coat should hide..er, straighten it out. Chuck will put on a second coat Sunday night or sometime Monday and hopefully Tuesday night we will be taping, so if all goes well you may want to bring cars just in case. The Switch Circuit still needs to be put in and that will also be on the schedule Tuesday.

Monday I will try to stop by Roads’ shop and pick up the power supplies, one of which will power the switches. Chuck will be shooting me an email at some point with an update on how the paint is doing. Never thought paint drying would be so interesting. Hope to see you all Tuesday.
